Shelter: An Artistic Exploration of HomelessnessSmokebrush Foundation (Colorado Springs)June 6 - 25, 2008Click here for some pix from the exhibit (from the website) Local and regional artists explore themes surrounding shelter, homelessness and dereliction. The Smokebrush Gallery is partnering with five Colorado Springs non-profit organizations that provide assistance to the area's homeless and working poor, including Catholic Charities-Marian House, Ecumenical Social Ministries, Interfaith Hospitality Network, Peak Vista Community Health Centers, and Springs Rescue Mission. Visitors are encouraged to make monetary donations, as well as, donations of canned goods, sleeping bags, tents and warm clothing, all in clean useable condition. This exhibition is sponsored in part by a grant from the Colorado Council on the Arts. Join us for a public forum, consisting of a moderated panel discussion, to delve into issues specific to homelessness and the Colorado Springs community, Thursday, June 19, 6pm - 8pm.
