The Libeskind juggernaut powers west of the divide: Thursday's (5/24/07) Denver Post details the plans for a Daniel Libeskind designed 56 unit condo project in Edwards (west of Vail). From the article:
"This will become the focal point for the
whole town," said Rick Mueller, president of Edwards-based Remonov.
"I'm over the 'mountain elegant' look, with all the log and stone
homes. I wanted to put a different twist on it, do more of a
contemporary look."
Not to be outdone, the RMN weighed in on 6/13/07 with a piece "Controversy towers over Edwards" but the "controversy" in the title is backed up with a mere sentence:
"The $125 million project, developed by Remonov & Co., has drawn
criticism from residents who say it doesn't blend in with the
environment, or it is simply another tribute to Libeskind's ego."
I was expecting at least a token quote from an outraged local; the News did offer up a brief Q&A session with the Master himself, as well as an artist's rendering of the project, provided by developer Remonov.
