The Mandala Center Presents
Ancient Images/Modern Icons: Art Making and the Divine Feminine
Thursday

view sacred images from around the world, sculpt ceramic icons, create sacred
collages, and write prayers reflecting their understanding of the Sacred
Feminine.
The Workshop begins with breakfast on Thursday morning, Oct 11th ;
participants may arrive after 4:00 on Wednesday, October 10; a simple dinner
will be served at 6:00 p.m.

Workshop leaders
Sheila Hennessy is
a ceramic sculptor whose hollowed female forms depict the human condition as
being pregnant with possibilities, the limitations being merely those we place
upon ourselves. Her current series evolved from earlier sculptures depicting
the female form as “sacred seed pods.” Inspired by such seemingly far-ranging
influences as the Divine Feminine, Jungian psychology, religious symbolism,
world mythology and quantum physics, Hennessy’s art inspires contemplation and
meditation.
Mary Saracino is
a writer and independent scholar who has been researching and reclaiming the
Feminine Divine for over 30 years. In 2001 and 2004, she participated in two
Dark Mother study tours (Sicily & Sardegna) guided by Lucia Chiavola
Birnbaum, PhD, author of Black Madonnas and Dark Mother. Mary is an
award-winning novelist/memoir writer and the author of No Matter What, Finding
Grace, Voices of the Soft- bellied Warrior, and The Singing of
Swans.
