Untitled: Three Aproaches to Contemporary Visual Art from PeruGallery of Contemporary Art, University of Colorado, Colorado SpringsDecember 12, 2008 - February 14, 2009Opening Reception: Friday, December 12, 2008 from 5:30 - 8:30 pm![]() It's a bit of a hike, but the Gallery of Contemporary Art on the University of Colorado's Colorado Springs campus has consistently been showcasing exciting contemporary art, with new exhibits opening every few months. The previous show, "Mind the Gap" highlighted a group of national and international artists working in a variety of media, including artist Sarah Ross who creates clothing that melds into various architectural environments ("archisuits") and a faux newscast by Israeli artist Doron Solomons featuring a pair of talking heads sans talk going through the facial motions of delivering the nightly news. GoCA's current exhibit "Untitled: Three Aproaches to Contemporary Visual Art from Peru" continues the focus on international themes and is curated by Mauricio Delfin, an insider to the Peruvian video scene who produces and directs the International Festival of Video/Arte/Electrónica which takes place in five cities in Peru. Delfin will be bringing video works from three Peruvian video artists: Cristian Alarcón, Fernando Gutierrez and Diego Lama. It can be a challenge to find the space tucked away on the UCCS campus so check out the website before you go: http://www.galleryuccs.org. There's free parking at the museum on Saturdays so be sure to stop by on the way back to Denver after stopping in at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center which is currently hosting a pair of interesting shows: "Walt Kuhn: An Imaginary History of the West" alongside "Place and Time: Reenactment Pageant Photographs" by Robischon Gallery photographer Edie Winograde. - KLH Gallery of Contemporary Art University of Colorado at Colorado Springs 1420 Austin Bluffs Parkway Colorado Springs, CO 80933-7150 M-F 10-4 and Sat 1-4 719.262.3567 http://www.galleryuccs.org
