The Fort Collins Museum of Art invites you to step into The World of Jan Brett. Opening June 5 at 5:00pm at our FREE First Friday event, sponsored by The Eye Center of Northern Colorado, this new traveling exhibit brings the stories of the admired children’s author/illustrator to life. Folk tale story settings and favorite characters jump off the pages with kid-friendly, interactive adventure areas and original artwork. The exhibit is on display at the Fort Collins Museum of Art through August 23, 2015.
The museum will also host a book signing by Jan Brett at the Lincoln Center on June 27th from 5:00-7:00pm. Admission is $1 for adults and children 13 and older and FREE for kids 12 and under. Members of the museum are FREE. Tickets are currently available at the museum.
“Visitors to the exhibit are going to be able to interact with their favorite Jan Brett stories like never before,” explains exhibit designer Mike Breza. “The World of Jan Brett takes the book out of the reader’s hands and places the reader inside the book.” The exhibit features more than 50 original paintings and sketchbooks, interactive exhibit areas, themed reading environments and kid-friendly graphics and labels. Children can bake up delicious fun in a child-size gingerbread playhouse or sail away with their favorite book in the Noah’s ark reading ship.
Recreated book scenes and favorite characters welcome children and adults alike into The World of Jan Brett. The exhibit encourages playful exploration and hands-on discovery as immersive environments and colorful graphics introduce visitors to cultures around the world. Exhibit programming offers hands-on activities that bring the pages and paintings of Jan Brett’s stories to life.

The World of Jan Brett is a traveling exhibition organized by the Oshkosh Public Museum in partnership with Jan Brett. The exhibit’s display at the Fort Collins Museum of Art is part of a nationwide tour. This exhibition is sponsored by the City of Fort Collins, Colorado Creative Industries, Bohemian Foundation, Dandelion Toys, and The Youth Clinic.

The museum is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm; Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 pm. Admission is $5.00 for adults; $4.00 for students with ID and seniors (over 65) and $1.00 for youth 7-18. Children 6 and under and museum members are always free.
