Long a treasury of the Rocky Mountain region’s most celebrated Western art, Evergreen Fine Art Gallery will again be host to a peerless collection of the country’s most celebrated Western artists.
The 6th annual Weekend in the West Art Show and Auction will showcase 50 top-tier painters and sculptors gathered from across the Mountain West, giving art lovers a rare opportunity to watch those talents at work and take home a masterpiece created before their very eyes. Already a must for collectors, the invitational event properly begins on June 18, with a preview week, as the artists’ works go on display in the gallery, giving folks plenty of time to get pre-acquainted with some of the most respected names in Western art.
“There’s a nice combination of Old West and New West”, says Evergreen Fine Art’s director, Doug Kacena. “There’ll be some very traditional art and themes, and some abstract and contemporary works.”
The bright galaxy of participating artists include such recognized luminaries as Quang Ho, Edward Aldrich, G. Russell Case, Karen Roehl, Jeff Legg, David Santillanes, Pem Dunn, Jill Soukup, Ron Hicks, Walt Gonske, Robert Spooner, Don Stinson and Kim English. Masters in three dimensions will include Evergreen sculptor Pati Stajcar and bronze artists Jan Mapes, Stephen LeBlanc, and Sandy Graves.
The Weekend formally begins with a Western-style Gala reception at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 24, featuring food, drink, and live music by cowboy laureate Dean Himes. The next morning at 9 o’clock sharp, the artists will muster in the gallery’s sculpture garden for a real Western showdown – each master will have exactly 90 minutes to complete a first-rate original work, and guests get to be astounded at the way they invariably do.
“This is the mountain region’s largest Quick-Draw event,” smiles Hadley. “You’d be amazed what these artists can do in 90 minutes. It’s a wonderful opportunity to observe them at work.” When the bell rings at precisely 10:30, brushes go down and champagne flutes go up. While artists frame the morning’s accomplishments, collectors will gather in a large white tent for a champagne brunch, followed by a live auction at which guests will have the chance to own newly-minted masterpieces even before the paint is dry.
Tickets for the champagne brunch and auction cost $35 per person. That price includes a genuine Western serenade by cowboy-poet Dean Himes, and a generous portion of all proceeds will help support Bootstraps Scholarships.
Folks wishing to take advantage of everything Weekend in the West has to offer should consider purchasing a Patron ticket package that includes the champagne brunch and auction, plus a picture-perfect gallery dinner with the artists on the evening of Thursday, June 23. Even better, the entire cost of a Patron ticket can be applied to any artwork purchased during Friday’s opening reception.
For those not able to attend the weekend events, the exhibit runs through July 16, 2016. To learn more about Weekend in the West, call Evergreen Fine Art Gallery at 303-679-3610, or visit www.evergreenfineart.com and http://www.weekendinthewest.com.
