![]() "New York City Waterfalls" - Vincent Laforet for The New York Times The NY Times has an article on a fascinating public artwork along the East River by artist Olafur Eliasson which will feature 4 waterfalls ranging in size from 90 to 130 feet at various lower Manhattan locations including the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and Governor's Island. It's always a pleasure to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge on a warm summer night and Eliasson's cascading water and light will certainly enhance the ambiance, but get an early start as the works are only on display from until 10:00 pm, with a 7:00 am start. The $15 million project is the biggest public art display since Christo's sublime, peaceful Central Park winter landscape "The Gates" back in 2005.
