I have been a fan of Eric Matelski's First Monday Art Talks at Dazzle for about a year now, and I attribute Eric's success to a formula that brings more than just an art lecture to the stage. FMAT offers music, poetry, dance and local artists, along with the ambiance and food of Dazzle which is my favorite Jazz spot in Denver.
Kicking off this FFFF (First Friday February First), Eric and Poet Hektor Munoz of the Chicano
Humanities and Arts Council (CHAC) will be hosting a show "molded from
a mixture of Cabaret Voltaire, old campy TV shows and cocktails" that
will feature a variety of sketches penned by local authors, playwrights and
poets performed by Eric, Hektor and the "Squares." Door prizes,
audience participation and "Battle Bar" are all included with the $5
cover. I'm sure this will be a hotspot for the post-FF gallery crowd. - KLH
