The DAM will be having a special french themed evening to kick-off the opening of their first "official" blockbuster exhibit Artisans and Kings: Selected Treasures from the Louvre. And of course it wouldn't be a blockbuster without additional ticket fees: admission to the museum and the special exhibit will set NON-Members back $18, however members will be allowed a certain number of free tickets based on membership level. Admission to the show is via timed reservation so depending on the crowds you might not walk right in, but the DAM will be opening up until 10:00 PM on Wednesday evenings again to accommodate the crowds (turns out  Weds nights are permanently no more, but Member Mondays are back from 2:00 to 8:00 PM until December 17 so give that a shot.)

All the various Denver Arts Disticts will be having special "Super First Friday" events, but the Art District on Santa Fe is pulling out all the stops and will be closing down 7th Ave between Kalamath and Santa Fe to serve up live music, street performers, a wine and beer garden, films, fire dancers, capoeiristas and who knows what else!

And the hometown underground Denver Art Infestation (featuring a cast of local artists lead by Rodney Wallace and Eric Matelski) will be hitting the scene with a flurry of "art everywhere" events including Fortune Cookie Art, Beer Coaster Art, Bus Art, Homeless Art, Light Art and Magnet Art (with some help from the Magnet Mafia.) I'll be snapping as many pix as possible of the various infestation manifestations and posting throughout the week.
