Nature is cyclical; it is a series of beginnings bleeding into endings which once more give rise to further beginnings. New life is born above the dirt while the dead sleep below, nurturing the soil and giving energy to the Earth. In this sense, nothing ever truly dies but instead exists eternally; living again as a part of the cycle of renewal. Artists Cheyenne Croy and Aria Fawn explore these themes in their work illustrating the rebirth of creatures beyond one's imagination and emphasizing the beauty of nature's creation of life through death. Cheyenne’s work showcases various displays of bones, insects, animal remains and dried plants which seem to be suspended forever in a moment of time featuring both natural and fantasy scenes that give new life to the deceased. Similarly, Aria’s surreal paintings and textile sculpture portray the mysterious spirits of nature beyond the veil and the subtle clockwork of the Earth’s balance with the living and the dead. These two artists compliment each other through their love for the natural world and their ability to render the beauty of the ephemeral qualities in life.
