RULE Gallery is pleased to present Colorado’s Imprint: Honoring Kirkland Museum’s Print Collection, a group exhibition of significant regional printmakers all of whom have the distinction of being included in the print collection of Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art. The show includes work by Herbert Bayer, Mary Chenoweth, Dale Chisman, Roland Detre, Martha Epp, Vance Kirkland, Ethel Magafan, Edward Marecak, and Cornelis Ruhtenberg.
Inspired by the grand re-opening of Kirkland Museum, their inaugural temporary exhibition of Colorado and national prints, and 2018’s Mo’Print, Colorado’s Imprint is a celebration of the region’s deep history in printmaking. The exhibition includes work spanning a time period from the 1930s to the 1990s by artists associated with institutions such as the Broadmoor Art Academy, now the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College, the University of Colorado and the Art Students League of Denver. It showcases a variety of print techniques and styles, highlighting both the individualism and connectivity of the region’s art community. Colorado’s Imprint is a testament to area’s importance to printmaking and the essential nature of the Kirkland’s collection.
Note: This exhibition is not an official collaboration with Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art and does not include any pieces from their collection.
