Artists Roman and Brucker have a few things in common, including time as teachers at Metro State and a fascination with nature as a theme in their work, however the end products are distinct: Roman's sculptures take their pace from the natural world and manifest as paper and plant either hanging freely or arranged delicately in wood boxes. Brucker's paintings are strictly 2 dimensional, based on microscopic images of protein crystals but certainly belie their scientific provenance through the artist's loose, seemingly naive hand.

Also on display in the Core Annex is a group show curated by Susan Barnes-Gelt featuring work by Mark Penner-Howell who had a solo show at Core a few months back, as well as video work by CU Boulder instructor Lee Wiesenfeld.  Wiesenfeld's clever video parodies take on classic video games as subject matter and although shot in HD, his works have a lustrous low tech patina that glorifies old school console gaming while mocking the conventions of the medium. - KLH
