Terry Maker - Without End - mixed media

Robischon Gallery is pleased to present a multi-part, thought-provoking series featuring five solo exhibitions by artists Tom Judd (PA), Jerry Kunkel (CO/KS), Terry Maker (CO), Jim Sanborn, (D.C.) and Edie Winograde (CO). With a pointed, yet humorous mix of imagery intended to spotlight a range of historical and modern-day cultural controversies, the five distinctive artists on view stir the dialogue in the current American political scene. Painters, Tom Judd’s Disruption and Jerry Kunkel’s RECON TEXT, alongside sculptors Terry Maker’s Point Blank and Jim Sanborn’s Meridian, in addition to photographer Edie Winograde’s Place and Time: Reenactment Pageant, offer their unique works as cleverly provocative visual puzzles for the viewer. With imagination and wide-ranging subject matter – from the American founding fathers and Manifest Destiny to the overt contradictions and clash of cultures, both historic and pop, to the hot button topics of the day such as gun control and the environment – the large and small-scale paintings, sculptures and photography presented, as well as specific installation works, invite investigation in unexpected and thoroughly engaging ways.
