Erin Furminsky - Requisite Swell

(from the press release)

Erin Furimsky’s ceramic constructions are entirely hand-built from soft slabs of clay, using the inherent plasticity to deftly expand and swell her pieces, creating her signature curvaceous forms. Using a combination of decorative techniques to include carving, glazing, and ceramic decals, she builds layers of color and pattern on the surface. There is something comfortable and soothing in the forms she creates. While only abstractions, her gentle swellings easily reference things familiar to everyone. Erin Furimsky’s work is sensual, inviting the viewer to touch or caress the surface and explore individual interpretation .
