Niza Knoll Gallery at 915 Santa Fe Drive will round out 2017 with a juried show of art works that incorporate the encaustic medium. Encaustic is an artistic process using pigments mixed with hot wax and fused with heat. The Wax Stories 2 exhibit runs from the opening of Denver Arts week on November 3, 2017 through the holiday season, until January 6, 2018. It features pieces from artists around the country who submitted works to a call for entries, juried by local artist Patricia Aaron and curated by Victoria Eubanks. Each piece is accompanied by an artist-composed story behind their creation.

Outstanding artworks will be recognized with 3 awards, Best of Show, 2nd and 3rd place. In addition to prizes provided by Blick Art Materials and Meininger Artist Materials, the winning artist will be honored with a four-week group exhibition, Best Stories, at the Niza Knoll Gallery in Denver in 2018.

Curator Victoria Eubanks is thrilled to be involved again in putting together this exhibit:

“We were delighted at the response, the quality of the work and fascinating stories in our first Wax Stories show. The work in this, the second biennial exhibition is equally amazing; marvelous art, captivating stories. I am honored to have curated both of these exhibits. As an artist who works with encaustic, I think of these folks as my peeps, my tribe. I am personally invested in showing off their art in a cohesive, informative exhibit. The inspiration and creative energy of so many current artists using in this ancient medium is undeniable.”

Exhibiting artists are as follows: Lois Lupica (Colorado), Andra Stanton (Colorado), Andy Deweerdt (Oregon), Reni Gower (Virginia), Michele Hardy (Colorado), Kate Snow (Ohio), Joseph Turek (New York), Roberta Friedman, (Connecticut) April South-Olson, (Michigan, Carol Mell, (New Mexico) Robin Samiljan (Illinois), Shannon Weber (Oregon) Jennifer Wilson (Colorado), Albina Almyasheva (Colorado), Mary Allan (California), Sheary Clough Suiter (Colorado), Michael Karl (Wisconsin), Katie Craney (Arkansas), Carolyn Berry (Colorado), Michele Messenger (Colorado), Jacquelyn Finholm (Colorado), Teresa Foster (Texas), Laura Mcelfresh (Colorado), Cindy Lesperance (Illinois), Carol Mehesy (Colorado), Heather Cherry (Colorado), Kathleen Thompson (California), Judith Smith (Washington), Paula Moxham Imirzian (Michigan), Pam Barrett Hackett (Georgia), Stephany Latham (Michigan), Becky Grismer (South Dakota), Susan Wasinger (Colorado) and Jamie Lang (Minnesota).
