Daniel Bahn and Patricia ZilinskyNext GalleryJuly 3 - July 19, 2009Opening Reception: Friday July 3 from 6–10pm![]() Daniel Bahn - Rock Point (from the press release) Daniel Bahn: "New Paintings" These new paintings were completed this spring and reflect the rock, sky and flora from my travels through Colorado, southern Utah and Arizona. From the grassy plains, through the rocky mountains, to the harsh desert, the earth displays a vast range of hues, textures and natural design. From lush, rich forests to the hardened and parched southwest horizons, I attempt to composite this landscape from bits and pieces and turn them into my own natural world. ![]() Patricia Zilinsky - Invented Heritage Patricia Zilinsky: "Invented Heritage" Like most First Generation United States Citizens, I learned early that it was vital to own American values and habits. I knew very little of my Dutch heritage; living conditions in the Old Country were not discussed. My family was so impoverished when they immigrated to the U.S. that there were almost no tangible ties to Holland, no heirlooms. So I studied Holland and visited the country several times; in this collection I have created my own relics, based on my family’s ties to the Earth and what will grow from it. By choosing floral images, I am aligning with the Dutch Masters who painted flowers to immortalize the growing season; floral depictions filled homes with Life during dark cold winters. Such paintings and Delft pottery were possessions far too dear for my family. I have adopted those decorative art forms as my own, as part of my Invented Heritage.
