The everyday reality of art making is overlooked. Works exhibited in museums and galleries are only final products of exhaustive research. Art genesis occurs only through prolonged periods of intense investigation and experimentation. Ideas are unfolded, methodologies questioned as artists expand their practices.

This exhibition offers a candid view of the art-making process with a special focus on research, revision, successes, and failures. Eight artists allow us a candid glimpse of their unique modus operandi. Visitors can expect to see new and old works, projects in progress, and process materials.

The Vicki Myhren Gallery is the main exhibition venue at the University of Denver School of Art & Art History (SAAH). It is integral to the educational mission of the school and provides an opportunity for students to experience exhibitions and interdisciplinary programs exploring the visual arts. Exhibitions, free and open to the public, feature work by artists from SAAH as well as regionally, nationally and internationally known artists.
