Inspire. Ignite. Innovate. explores MOA's 2017 annual theme of past, present, future. Summer Design and Build Emerging Artists examine this topic throughout the MOA indoor galleries. The result is a playful, yet thoughtful, exhibition that makes the viewer ponder this theme. The exhibition was created by 12 undergraduate level emerging artists selected to participate in MOA's annual summer Design and Build program under the direction of Master Artist, Cory Gilstrap.

MOA's Design and Build program operates in two realms, focusing on both temporary outdoor public art and indoor gallery exhibitions. "Emerging artists are provided a theme and collaboratively create a cohesive body of work under the lead of a professional artist in only eight weeks," said MOA President and Executive Director, Cynthia Madden Leitner. "Participants gain experience in collaboration and in creating commissions and public art."

Also premiering is the fourth annual Design and Build Alumni Exhibition in the MOA Atrium Gallery. This exhibition features new artworks by Design and Build Alumni, Tiffany Matheson - D&B Alumni 2016, Karel Moyer - D&B Alumni 2015, and Brad Vieira - D&B Alumni 2012. These works will be on display through October 21, 2017.

Finally, MOA will debut The Sculptured Buildings of Charles Deaton in the MOA Sound Gallery. Architect Charles Deaton (1921-1996) designed the Key Savings and Loan Bank Building located at 3501 S. Broadway in Englewood, CO. This building celebrates 50 years in 2017 and is considered a local architectural gem. The structure is now occupied by Community Banks of Colorado and the Greater Englewood Chamber of Commerce. The exhibition will highlight Deaton's three sculptured buildings including his similarly styled Wyoming National Bank in Casper, WY and his Genesee, CO Residence (also known as the Sleeper House). This exhibition will be on view through September 22, 2017.
