Neighborhoods: New Work by Tracy Weil
November 2 - 30, 2018
- First Friday Opening Reception: November 2 from 5 to 9pm
After a five year hiatus, Weilworks Gallery is back — and big! Neighborhoods, featuring an extra large colorful painting by Tracy Weil, debuts at Weilworks at a First Friday Opening Reception on Friday, November 2 from 5 to 9pm. Weilworks Gallery is located at 3611 Chestnut Place in the RiNo Art District in Denver.
Neighborhoods is a celebration of where we live, love, work and play, and a tribute to the four historic neighborhoods that comprise the RiNo Art District: Five Points, Cole, Elryia-Swansea, and Globeville. The exhibition highlight is an oil painting measuring 20-feet by 7-feet and fills the gallery’s main exhibition space.
With the district’s dramatic growth, Weil seeks to amplify the importance of respecting the energy and vitality of these long-established neighborhoods. “These are vibrant neighborhoods that have been here for generations,” notes Weil. “As the artist community grows in the district, it’s attracting other creative businesses as well as major development,” he says. “Art is the common thread and it’s our job as artists to lead, remind and document. I hope this new work will continue efforts to empower our community and change the paradigm of cultural displacement.”
