Resonant: new works by Leopoldo Cuspinera Madrigal

Tansey Contemporary

March 7 - April 7, 2019

  • Opening reception: Thursday March 7, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
tanseyCuspinera Madrigal’s work is based in the ancient, pre-Columbian papermaking technique of Papel Amate, which he has modified to create his works. He continues to hone his technique, which he has used for more than twenty-five years, to make new discoveries and evolve his art practice. He lets the materials themselves - recycled paper pulp, pigments, resins, water - be active participants in the art making process, which he likens to action painting, that balances both rationality and intuition.

Cuspinera Madrigal has exhibited extensively throughout Mexico, the United States, Italy, France, and Switzerland. He currently lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
