When local Denver artists Courtney Cotton & Justin Kedl met exhibiting at fooLPRoof Contemporary Art in RiNO, they found that their work had such a relationship. In the natural world, symbiosis is a mutually beneficial relationship between two organisms, the actions of each somehow benefitting the other. When local Denver artists Courtney Cotton & Justin Kedl met exhibiting at fooLPRoof Contemporary Art in RiNO, they found that their work had such a relationship. Both of their bodies of work reflect whimsy and curiosity: Courtney’s paintings seek new perspectives, different and positive ways of viewing things, while Justin’s sculptures give life and form to strangeness and difference, embodying the bizarre and the inexplicable. Together, their work creates a brightly-colored ecosystem of spots, lines, and tentacles, a space that asks people to walk through life lightly and inquisitively.
