JAQ CHARTIER - Green/Blue Chart acrylic, ink, dyes, stains and spray paint on panel diptych 40 x 61 in

Robischon Gallery is pleased to present concurrent solo exhibitions in abstraction by artists Barbara Takenaga (NY), Linda Fleming (CO/CA), Jaq Chartier (WA) and Alison Hall (NY). Each process-oriented approach by painters Takenaga, Hall and Chartier as well as sculptor, Fleming, manifests in an uncommon range of imaginative possibilities of pattern and form stemming from the organic to the systematic. The large and small works exhibited utilize an array of media, including Takenaga’s paintings of acrylic on linen or panel, Chartier’s applications of ink, dye or spray paint and acrylic resins on panel along with the artist’s archival dye sublimation on aluminum prints, Hall’s paintings employing oil, graphite and plaster on panel, and Fleming’s chromed and enameled steel wall sculpture alongside works on paper of gouache and pastel.

The four distinctive artists on view offer an opportunity to experience a wide range of color, from deeply nuanced shades to vivid luminous hues, which are primarily carried by mesmerizing repetition and the subtle or dramatic shifts of movement within each artist’s vernacular. By chosen means and the vehicle of abstraction, Takenaga, Hall, Chartier and Fleming visually accentuate and synthesize the binary conditions of order and flux through counterbalance, reflection and process, while alluding to the intimacy of contemplation and the expansiveness of the cosmological.
