CORE New Art Space
November 15 - December 1, 2019
- Opening Reception: Friday, November 15th from 5-10pm
- Juror: Michael Paglia
Red has been used in art before language and history. It comes with infinite meaning, symbolism and psychology. Cultures have used red to dominate, empower, or strike fear yet it also has the power to seduce, warn, celebrate, embarrass, and ignite. This Open Call show invited all artists in all mediums to express what red means to them.
Juror, Michael Paglia, art historian and weekly column writer for Westword has written essays on the visual arts and published in Art News, Architecture, Art Ltd., Modernism, Art & Auction and Sculpture Magazine, among others. He periodically teaches art history at the University of Colorado Denver.
