Gina Smith Caswell: Portraiture

Gina Smith Caswell’s current body of work returns to her exploration of portraiture. Usually she paints herself or family and friends. While in the past her subjects were typically young, this year she completed a poignant painting of her 87-year old father. “I’ve explored capturing the individual's personality as well incorporating them within a traditional setting, such as a living room.” Conversely, another painting echoesToulouse Lautrec in its gaudiness and lack of interest in "beauty". Caswell’s use of pattern is a dominant theme along with her signature vibrant color.

Johnny Plastini: Post-Digital Haruspex

Johnny Plastini employs innovative technologies such as laser engravers and computer numerically controlled milling machines in combination with traditional intaglio printmaking processes on handmade papers. His new series, Post-Digital Haruspex, explores a wide range of appropriated imageries that appear simultaneously ancient and futuristic, when juxtaposed together.
