Black & White, an Open Call Exhibit
In the annex: Savage Art by Heather Savage
Core New Art Space
July 12 - 29, 2018
- Opening Reception: Friday July 13 from 6-9pm
Black and White is an exhibition that seeks to show art that has cast away the color system and focuses on the visual power of black and white; reflecting the innovative and contemporary in painting, photography, drawing, printmaking, mixed media and sculpture. This show was juried by Dr. Deanne Pytlinski, Art Dept. Chair at Metropolitan State University of Denver and features both regional and national artists.
Heather Savage has always been drawn to art and the feelings it can convey. Having grown up in a “beige” middle class life, she matured and learned to use art to bring vibrancy into her life. Working on her BFA, Savage fell more in love with the process and being different. Intense contrasting colors and texture lure the viewer into a world where lies a dynamic tension between pretty and pain. Success lies in making the viewer take a second look.
CORE New Art Space was founded in 1981 as a non-profit contemporary art cooperative. It is comprised of 24 member artists and is located in Denver’s historic Santa Fe Arts District. Core provides professional gallery space to its members as well as to the broader arts community. Core offers additional opportunities to artists in the form of juried feature exhibitions. The mission of Core New Art Space is to encourage the exploration of new and different forms of expression and to promote to the general public the understanding of contemporary art.
