Kaizen (noun): a Japanese word for improvement, Wikipedia /‘kīzən/

Zen (noun): a state of calm attentiveness in which one’s actions are guided by intuition rather than by conscious effort, Merriam-Webster 2nd definition

“Kaizen, My Zen” references the goal of this artist’s journey; continuously improving her ability to translate the interaction of light and color, revealing a dimensionality of subject and emotion. Fontenot aims to create her works with a deeply peaceful awareness, when her brush is guided more by intuition than the conscious repetition of learned technique. This exhibition invites the viewer to experience part of her artist’s journey, which she hopes will leave one feeling peaceful and relaxed.
