Arts Brookfield brings works by Don Stinson to their gorgeous lobby gallery in the upcoming free exhibition SKY WIDE which opens on August 30 at 1801 California with a free reception from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Running until November 9, these paintings featuring pop culture and its reflection on the landscape will be on display through Denver Arts Week. Stinson’s panoramas of endless skies and sweeping fields serve as both detailed documentation of a changing landscape as well as commentary on a culture fixated on progress. In his works, Stinson nods to conventions of the Western painting tradition while adding a decidedly modern twist—often with a nod to pop culture.

Don Stinson is a nationally acclaimed artist with works in numerous public and private collections, including the Denver Art Museum, The Phoenix Art Museum, the Art in Embassies Program in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the Whitney Museum of Western American Art, among others. He is the recipient of numerous grants and awards including the Colorado Council on the Arts Director's Grant, and the Best of Show at the Coors Art Exhibit at the National Western Stock Show. Stinson received a BFA from Colorado State University and an MFA from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and Tufts University. Stinson currently lives in Evergreen and is represented in Denver by David B. Smith Gallery.
