Well-known fiber artists, Roxanne Rossi and Carol Ann Waugh team up to present an explosion of new works in fiber – in paper, fabric, and thread. Together, they are creating two interwoven panels spanning more than 12 feet long by 6 feet high. Other works will show the depth and breadth of their creative talents and incorporate a mixed media approach to new fiber.

About the Artists

Roxanne Rossi is well-known as an artist working in paper, mixed media, and paint. Roxanne’s hand made paper is a fiber with contradictions. It can be substantial and delicate, temporary or enduring, support the medium, and be the medium. Her unique expression of this medium is to create contrast. Contrast in pure white with shadows formed from textures, contrast with the large smooth soft spaces, and areas of texture. By playing with this paradox in handmade paper she then constructs the visual tension. The result is minimal, yet expansive. You will find Roxanne’s work shown nationally.

Carol Ann Waugh current works use four or five layers of surface design including deconstructed screen printing, painting, stamping, drawing with oil sticks and pencils, rubbings, and machine and hand stitching, mixing geometric and organic textures with layer upon layer of complex surface tension. Her work has appeared in numerous books and catalogs including 1,000 Artisan Textiles, 500 Art Quilts, American Quilter Magazine, SAQA Journal and Portfolio 16.
