![]() (from the press release) Resolution: Paintings by Patrick Loehr Patrick Loehr, author/illustrator of the popular Mucumber McGee series of children’s books (HarperCollins Publishers) will exhibit a collection of new paintings designed to make you laugh and perhaps make you think about what they mean. “These works explore our compulsion to assign meaning to objects and situations,” says Loehr. “Even when no definitive meaning exists”. The exhibition, opening June 18th at the Ice Cube Gallery in Denver, is called resolution. The name of the exhibit refers to the rudimentary aesthetic style used by Loehr to paint the figures and accompanying text, as well as the ambiguous nature of the circumstances being depicted. Loehr explains, “The lower the resolution or fidelity of an image, the more the viewer needs to participate in order to make sense out of the situation. These works are intended to encourage participation.” Personal Landscapes: Installations by Regina Benson Using her natural surroundings both in process and artistic vision, Benson's works undulate off the walls and ceiling surrounding the viewer in a shared experience.
