Peace in the Universe

Downtown Aurora Visual Arts

December 1, 2017 - January 12, 2018

Share peace this holiday season at DAVA (Downtown Aurora Visual Arts). Youth at DAVA create special works of art year round and this is their contribution to the holiday spirit of giving. This year, the focus is on making art that brings us peace and unity. Proceeds from this exhibit support year round art programs for youth at DAVA. DAVA is a wonderful destination for handmade holiday gifts. Youth experimented with a wide range of materials and techniques to create mandala rocks, shadow boxes, mobiles, ceramics and pillows. Other projects are inspired by animal architecture to bugs and plant studies. Students in all programs are working together to create wonderful artworks to share with you.

Guest artists Jessica Ellis, Cal Duran and Frankie Toan add unique perspectives to the exhibit. Jessica Ellis creates small sculptures (Curioscapes) and jewelry using elements of nature. She will inspire students in November as a guest artist in the studio. A selection of ceramics, papier mache and painting by Cal Duran will open our imagination to other worlds. Frankie Toan links people through words and hands. His sewn and cross stitched pieces often show hands of different colors while others are interactive soft sculptures.

Downtown Aurora Visual Arts is a nonprofit arts organization whose mission is to strengthen the community through the arts with youth as its primary focus. For more information about our programs, visit, or call DAVA at 303 367 5886.
