Inspired by John Lennon’s song Imagine, middle school Computer Art Lab students visualized all the people living in peace and caring for the world, today. A multi-layered graphic presentation illustrates student concerns and cultures. Job Training studio youth reflected on personal challenges and possible solutions through symbolic acts of letting go, while others immersed themselves in the pursuit of fantasy. Separate installations of butterflies and cocoon like paintings illustrate their journey.

Elementary students in the Open Studio imagined their future, and their role in the world through an installation of plaster masks and drawings of thought bubbles. Individual projects focus on a more generous world where imagination can be a gift, like a cloud in a box. Playful group projects made by mini robots and other experimental processes will also be included.

Guest artist Esther Hernandez reenacts some of her dreams through stop motion animation and performance. Animations and videos of performances will be presented in the gallery for the duration of the exhibit. She will reenact one of her dream of being a Butoh dancer in a performance of slowing down time.

All of DAVA’s exhibits are free and open to the public from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday or by appointment. For more information about the exhibits email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
