Mark Monroe - New Paintings

"My goal is to create art in which the viewer's perceptions take precedence over my own psychological assertions. The paintings themselves are nonrepresentational experiments; color and visual texture provide the impetus of visualization." - Mark Monroe, artist's statement

Gene Ray George: Out of Context

"The found images I have used for these paintings inspired me in different ways. I chose to remove their original meaning via expressionistic color and collage. Superimposing an invented personality and narrative onto them, I hope to displace the original intent of these images, and to present them in a fresh perspective – out of context." - Gene Ray George, artist's statement
