GÜNTHER GERZSO/OCTAVIO PAZ PALABRAS GRABADOS/GRAVEN WORDS A PORTFOLIO OF 10 IMAGES, EACH ACCOMPANIED BY TEXT, FROM THE CU ART MUSEUM’S PERMANENT COLLECTION This exhibition includes the complete print portfolio, Palabras Grabados/Graven Words, featuring architectonic abstractions by Mexican Modernist, Günther Gerzso, accompanied by the passionate text of Mexico's distinguished writer, Octavio Paz. Gifted by Polly and Mark Addison, the portfolio is part of the CU Art Museum's Permanent Collection, which includes a significant selection of modern and contemporary works on paper, photography, print portfolios, artist books, media art, painting, and sculpture. This exhibition is planned in conjunction with the exhibition of Luis Cruz Azaceta, Ambulatory: Museum Plan. The CU Art Museum's permanent collection contains over 6,000 works of art. The collection was started in 1939 to be used as a teaching tool for students. It has grown into a comprehensive art collection that enriches the educational experience of students, faculty, and the broader campus community, as well as the Colorado public through exposure to original works of art. The collection also serves to facilitate art-historical research about larger societal issues through a greater understanding of the arts. During construction of its new state-of-the-art museum facility, the CU Art Museum is planning collaborative programming with institutions across the CU Boulder campus and in the community. Generous funding for this exhibition is provided in part by the CU Boulder Arts and Culture Enrichment Fees (ACE Fees) as well as the CU Art Museum benefactors, individual donors, and members. Admission to these exhibitions is free and open to the public.
