In Chinese philosophy, yin and yang describe how often opposites are complementary and connected like hot and cold, black and white, short and tall, and functional/nonfunctional when working in clay.

Artists on Santa Fe's June show will feature resident artist, James Garnett, commonly known to work in the nonfunctional side of clay using the Japanese method of glaze firing called Raku.

New works will be exhibited alongside his new designs in functional ware including sake sets, teapots, and trays. Using slab construction, the wheel, and extruded clay he follows the intended rules of clean lines and form as often seen in his architecturally inspired nonfunctional vessels. Additionally, new works in painting, jewelry, photography, and ceramics by gallery artists will be exhibited.

Artists on Santa Fe is a gallery with working artists' studios located in the heart of the Art District on Santa Fe. It's an engaging environment where visitors can interact with professional artists and view work in progress. The gallery is a local favorite, and was featured in New York Time's "36 hours" series as one of the most accessible galleries in Denver.
