Art Gallery at the DPAC at Backstage Coffee is pleased to present “To Build a Dream,” a group show of seven local artists who have been given full license to explore this concept resulting in a broad depiction celebrating the power of each individual’s perception of what dreams are made of.

“To Build a Dream” will display from July 13 – August 31 with its opening reception from 6:00 – 10:00 PM, Saturday, July 13. Share with us an evening full of rich interpretations acknowledging human experience and the balance between where we come from, where we are going, and how our dreams take shape. The Art Bar will be open and live music will be performed throughout the evening by singer/songwriter Gina Massaro.

“To Build a Dream” will feature the artworks of artists: Justin Maes, Rik Sargent, Chelese Hawkins, Brian Rendon, Lindsey Wilson, Ben Topf and Mark Whistler. Each artist explores elements within the various potentials of reality and how they transcend within the shaping of our dreams. Some artists focus on the natural world as a source for understanding while others gravitate toward the interior of the human psyche and experience. Through a wide range of art forms encompassing sculpture, installation, paintings hanging or sitting on the floor, to mismatched compilations of created and found objects. The show induces a multimedia-rich atmosphere inviting the viewer to investigate each artist’s interpretation as well as provoke their own self-exploration.

Join us as we celebrate the journey of human existence where dreams become tangible and reality is up for debate. The basis of our show encompasses the theme of this year’s Biennial of the Americas “The Power of Human Potential: Reinventing Communities, Business, and Education.” The Biennial kicks off Tuesday, July 16, at the Buell Theater in the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Through our exhibition, Art Gallery at the DPAC at Backstage Coffee hopes to engage the community in the experience and the language of art, embracing individuality among a greater collective experience.
