(from the press release)

Art Gallery at the DPAC at Backstage Coffee is pleased to invite you to our First Friday Opening Reception for RE-IMAGINE NATION, a group show featuring five illustrators, two poets, and an interactive music application.

In a world grounded in reality, it’s hard to float away into the realms of the imagination. Our daily lives are so filled with the grind of routine we lose time to re-connect with ourselves and our wonderment subsides. What would you choose to accomplish if you could re-create your world, a vision of your own making? RE-IMAGINE NATION will inspire this journey of exploration by promoting the re-growth of our nation’s necessity for individual expression yet a unified appreciation and approach to the arts.

RE-IMAGINE NATION melds the kindred spirits of art, music and the written word. With delightfully rendered artworks by: Benjamin Wright Coleman, Kelly Angelovic, Mike Geiger, Tauz Hawkins and Jon Schultz, poetry recited by Hannah Haddadi and Haven Grey, and live music performed by Papa McGee.

We will be introducing Move My Music, an IOS-based music notation/creation application. This format was created to revolutionize how art is taught in a technology based world. Imagined by teacher Karissa Swanson and engineered by Nicholas Krut, this medium is easy for children to orchestrate while promoting their future progression and development of the arts. This program is being administered by Protea’s Gene Sobczak. An assortment of interactive projects that stimulate creativity await your enjoyment and inspiration. The Art Bar will be open and Backstage Coffee’s original specialty hors d’oeuvres will be served throughout the evening. RE-IMAGINE NATION will display through October 26th with our Artists’ Reception on Saturday, Oct. 12. This reception will serve to benefit children’s education in the arts.

Art Gallery at the DPAC is located directly at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, across from the Ellie Caulkins Opera House and conveniently within walking distance from the Convention Center light rail station.
