This August Abend Gallery presents Variance, a group exhibition featuring works from artists both familiar and brand new to the gallery roster. On view in our beautiful new downtown location on Wazee Street this show exemplifies its title through the works themselves as well as through our innovative new business model.
1412 Wazee St
Denver, CO 80202
Tue-Sat: 12pm - 6pm
The variety of works on view in this exhibition range in style and genre. From the stunning portraits of Zack Zdrale and Jaclyn Alderete, to the vividly beautiful works of newcomers Kierstin Young and Heiko Mattausch there is something for every viewer. Timur Akriev's "Traveler" is a fun and fresh take on still life, melding traditional and contemporary elements with his brilliant use of color and pattern. Rob Rey has included two spectacular new works in his ongoing Bioluminescence series, which feature surreal depictions of glowing animals that glow with an uncanny light.
Being our inaugural exhibition in our new space, the title of the show also references our new take on the gallery space itself. By sharing our location between three distinct galleries we have created a space that is ever-changing and always fresh, exhibiting works from artists all over the world whose practices range from traditional painting to experimental new media. This new model allows the gallery to expand its outreach by increasing our visibility in other spaces locally as well as other cities around the US and internationally.
“Variance” here speaks to the multitude of changes happening within the gallery as well as the number of fascinating perspectives from this great group of artists on view. We can't wait to share what we have in store as we continue exhibiting work from some of the most talented artists working today.
