About this exhibition
Sellars and Gibbons have created this installation which includes 14 unique sculptural dinner settings offered to the public for purchase. Each sculptural work includes a seat at their artistically designed and catered dinner party on June 16, 2007 at Z Cuisine with both artists in attendance. This evening proves to be an exceptionally unique experience.
Each place setting lists the title of the piece and the number of reservations offered for dinner with your purchase. All purchases must be completed by June 9th in order to secure your reservation on the 16th of June.
The artwork around the gallery are from the artists’ personal collections. If you are interested in any of the works please talk to the artist for availability.
“We wanted to plan something special this year without repeating ourselves,” says Jimmy Sellars. “In the past we have featured silent auctions, catered preview receptions, and even Sangria by the Pool during our Float/Dive exhibition. This year we wanted to find a way to reconnect with our collectors and to actually spend time with them rather than handing them the piece and waving goodbye.”
And not to forget, art is the key to this transaction. Each piece is unique and reflects the signature styles of both artists. “These are works you wouldn’t expect from either of us, which makes them even more special,” adds Gibbons. “The dinner is a way for us to treat ourselves as well as our collectors. Jimmy and I are both coming up on a very busy summer and fall season.”
This installation and subsequent dinner party is the physical manifestation of the artists’ desire to just sit down and enjoy a meal with great conversation as they head into their busy season. Both Sellars and Gibbons have been selected from 2,363 artists to participate in the Cherry Creek Arts Festival as well as the first ever Artist Preview Event where only 29 of the 230 exhibiting artists were chosen. Gibbons will also be exhibiting at Loveland’s 24th annual Sculpture in the Park exhibition in August, invited to exhibit at the American Museum of Ceramic Art in Pomona, California, as 1 of 14 nationally renowned women clay sculptors, is the national presenter for the Natural Instincts: Potters Council Regional Converence in North Carolina, will be exhibiting in Chelsea in November with the Guild while also teaching her group and private workshops in clay and mixed media at her studio, EvB Studio in the Tennyson Street Cultural District. Sellars will be exhibiting in Holland at the Th Gallery in the Hague, is included in the 23rd Annual Art Amsterdam, working on a solo exhibition for his gallery in Europe, and will be curating exhibitions at his sellarsprojectspace while also teaching classes on marketing and promotion throughout the summer and fall.
