Sky Visions: Jim Peterson and Laura GueseSpace GalleryNovember 1 - 29, 2008Opening Reception: Thursday November 6th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm![]() The soul of the American West is perhaps best manifested in the expansive, vibrant and emotional skies. The sky has the power to evoke a full spectrum of true sentiments, which is the reason two painters of the Western sky, Jim Peterson and Laura Guese feel strongly compelled to speak through the subject matter of limitless atmosphere. While both artists reside in the West, their interpretations of the Western sky vary greatly from one another. Jim Peterson's work of oil on panel consists of bright colors placed side by side in horizontal bands reflecting the multiple layers of the atmosphere and light. The end result creates an abstract interpretation of the sky and its emotions. Laura Guese strives to evoke the infinite color and energy of the sky through her large-scale oil and oilbar on canvas paintings. Sky Visions demonstrates two artists' perspectives of the Western sky, as both artists work replicates the unique soul of the American West through painting communicating honest, powerful emotion.
