Denver Art Museum

February 23 - May 25, 2008

The Louvre is on a roll to become an art mega-brand, with a controversial billion dollar Dubai franchise ("The Desert Louvre") under development, and a variety of Louvre-themed traveling shows, one of which rolled through town last year (Artisans and Kings: Selected Treasures from the Louvre).

The latest installment, while not pulling exclusively from the Louvre, does explore the connection between Impressionist masters such as Manet, Degas, Monet, and Renoir and the masterpieces that inspired them, many of which were studied by the artists at the famed egalitarian French cultural icon.

Be prepared to shell out $20 for a ticket (or go ahead and become a member for some free passes), however even at that ticket cost, the DAM needed some heavyweight partners to pull off the exhibit including Atlanta's High Museum where the show wrapped up a 3 month run and the Seattle Art Museum where the show is on to next. - KLH

Also be sure not to miss the excellent
"Impressionist and Modern Masters from the New Orleans Museum of Art" at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center which is on display until March 9th.
