Artist Angela Beloian

While not in the front room, I found the works by Jason Lucas and Angela Beloian to be among the more interesting pieces at Walker Fine Art's current "Impulse" exhibit. Beloian creates stretched fabric canvases from a chaos of vintage patterns she has collected and then adds paper and ink to the mix. The end result is a nervous harmony of disparate media, colors and shapes that hint at a luscious natural world among distinctly un-natural visual disruptions. - KLH

(press release)

Denver, CO- Walker Fine Art presents Ben Strawn, Jared Davis & Robert Delaney, an exhibition that will feature glass sculpture by Jared Davis and mixed media 2D works by Ben Strawn in addition to kinetic mobile sculpture by Robert Delaney.   An opening reception, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Friday, April 11, 2008, 6-9pm at the gallery in the Prado building on 11th & Cherokee Streets in Denver's Golden Triangle Museum District.  The exhibition's featured artists will attend the opening.  The exhibition will continue through Saturday, May 24, 2008 during regular gallery hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-6pm, and First Fridays of each month, 6-9pm, or by appointment.  For further information call 303-355-8955, or visit www.walkerfineart.com.

BEN STRAWN- earned his B.F.A. from the University of Denver in 1985, and has since shown in numerous gallery spaces throughout the Colorado and Southwestern region, including:  Trembling Apsen Gallery, Buena Vista, CO;  Arcadia Gallery, Boulder, CO;  and Obsidian, Tucson, AZ.  Strawn emphasizes that he relies on "intuition, spontaneity and movement," to inform his work and drive his inspiration forward.  As a result, his works are large-scale, often experimental, and boldly colored; exuding the great energy he brings to his painting.

"I want my paintings to surprise me-to reveal to me what art is and can be" -Ben Strawn

JARED DAVIS- studied glass sculpting under world-renowned Swedish Glass masters, Jan Erik Ritzman and Sven-Ake Carlsson, and studied Venetian-Style Glass blowing-thus earning a multifaceted technical background that endows his work with an innovative edge.  Davis has shown his work in both national and international, museums and galleries including:  Smalands Museum, Vaxjo, Sweden; Nordiska Kristall, Stockholm, Sweden, K-Dahl Glass Studios, Crawford, CO; and Wyly Community Art Center, Aspen, CO.

"What I try to portray in my work is a moment in time, that moment is a fusion of hot, cold, energy, passion and a blend of color which I hope will capture a little of the beauty of the experience we call life"- Jared Davis

ROBERT DELANEY- discovered his talent for designing and building mobile sculptures when he was thirteen.  He has since developed his technique to construct monumentally sized, but graceful aerial sculptures.  Many of Delaney's works now hang in prominent Denver locations, including:  The ballroom lobby in the Hyatt Denver Convention Center Hotel and the roof of Denver's Zeitgeist Gallery.   Delaney's instillations have won him recognition in numerous publications, among which include:  Metropolitan Home, Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News and Art & Auction.

"I believe that art should be modern, and thus reflect the times in which we live...I want to create objects that have...grace, and that...move" -Robert Delaney
