Alchemy: Stan Meyer, Marta Thomas, Ann WeberWilliam Havu GalleryNovember 7, 2008 - January 3, 2009Opening Reception Friday November 7 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm Alchemy at William Havu - photo by Ken Hamel/DenverArts.org William Havu Gallery has had a few pieces by California artist Ann Weber on the gallery floor for a few months now, and they often upstaged the main artist on display with their foreboding presence towering over the viewer. Happily, Weber will be part of a group show at Havu opening November 7th featuring a variety of her cardboard and staple constructions that come together like a demented cross between African baskets and living organisms covered in shellac. The Denver Office of Cultural Affairs commissioned Weber to cast one of her cardboard creations in bronze and you can catch that 9 foot tall piece at Skyline Park (17th and Arapahoe, downtown). - KLH Click here for pictures from the exhibit.
