Untitled #26 (Toast!)Denver Art MuseumFriday December 4, 2009 from 6-10pmThe Untitled series has typically been a last Friday gig, not to mention that it's currently officially on winter hiatus, but Untitled #26 (Toast!) will be taking place this Friday evening with departing museum director Lewis Sharp in attendance. It's also a great opportunity to take in the recently opened "Embrace!" exhibit which deserves multiple visits over the course of it's run. - KLH(from the press release) Prost! Salud! Cheers! However you say it, we’re celebrating at the Denver Art Museum (DAM) this December with an impromptu reprise of Untitled on the first Friday of the month, December 4. Untitled #26 (Toast!) takes a look at all things celebratory in our collection to help send off retiring director Lewis Sharp and toast the past 20 years at the DAM. Raise your glass December 4 from 6 to 10 p.m. Toastmasters will be on hand to school guests in the art of the toast. Visitors will get a chance to deliver their crafty cheers or jeers to artworks from the DAM’s collections in the first ever, DAM Toast ‘n’ Roast. Prizes will be given for the best toast or roast of an artwork. Visitors get a special opportunity to hear mini-talking-tos by DAM curators and master teachers. Find out about the festive scenes depicted in the DAM’s American and European art collection with curator Angelica Daneo, and listen as master teacher Heather Nielsen talks about celebration and ceremony in the African art collection. Guest of honor Lewis Sharp will take a special seat during Untitled. Sharp will retire at the end of December after leading the museum for 20 years. Catch him to say your fond farewell before he heads off to his California orange grove. Untitled regulars Buntport Theater perform a special rendition of their on-going sitcom, Joan and Charlie Discuss Tonight’s Theme. Performances by local bands and DJs round out the evening of fun. The final Friday of the month, the Denver Art Museum feels less like a field trip and more like a night out. The regular Untitled mixed-media event series will return to the final Friday of the month in March 2010. Check back for exciting Untitled-like programs and events throughout the winter months. Untitled events are included in general Museum admission. Students presenting valid IDs receive 2-for-1 general admission when tickets are purchased on-site. Untitled is sponsored by Charles Schwab. Catering is provided by Kevin Taylor Catering at the Denver Art Museum. For more information, visit untitled.denverartmuseum.org.
