What is blockchain and what does it have to do with the art market? The October PhotoVox is an introductory talk for photographers about a technology called Blockchain (often associated with Bitcoin). Don’t worry, you won’t need to be a rocket scientist to understand! Blockchain presents new opportunities for democratizing control over all sorts of products both digital and physical and the art world is paying attention. Patti will describe what Blockchain is, how it’s being used in the art world and what the potential pitfalls are as things stand today. This technology has the potential to help photographers provide ownership certification, museum quality provenance tracking and control over the copyright, licensing and usage of your artwork.

Join us to hear Patti Hallock discuss the following:
  • What are some of the current offerings that are designed around Blockchain, specific toward photographers
  • What are the problems in the market as it stands today and look to the future
  • Why does this matter?
Armed with this information you will be prepared to evaluate the possible applications in your photographic art career.
