Artsweek Golden returns July 8-14 with a week-long celebration of the arts orchestrated by the Foothills Art Center and culminating in the Foothills Fine Arts Festival, a weekend juried arts festival featuring national artists exhibiting their works in downtown Golden. The week-long festival includes activities that will take place throughout the entire historic town of Golden such as yarn-bombing of Golden sculptures, film screenings, chalk sidewalk masterpieces, and plein air painting.

“The arts scene in Golden has never been stronger or more varied,” said Hassan Najjar, the executive director of Foothills Art Center. “We have street art, sculpture walks, traditional paintings, vibrant murals, performances. Foothills Art Center is one of many thriving cultural organizations, along with Golden History Museums, Miners Alley Playhouse, Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, downtown galleries and more. In ARTSWEEK GOLDEN, we are banding together for 168 hours of art and culture to showcase the strength of Golden’s cultural scene.”

Along with free admission to Foothills Art Center and Golden History Museum, Artsweek Golden will include the following events:
  • Monday, July 8: Ladies Fancywork Society Yarn Bombing of downtown Golden sculptures
  • Tuesday, July 9: Luau with Hawaiian Quilts at Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum
  • Wednesday, July 10: Not so silent film screening of Man with a Movie Camera
  • Thursday, July 11: Aerialists in the Garden at Foothills Art Center Courtyard 2nd Annual Plein Air Event Exhibit at Foothills Art Center
  • Friday, July 12: Golden Chalk on the Creek on sidewalks in front of The Golden Hotel; Public Art Commission Open House and Mural Unveiling at Golden History Museum
  • Saturday, July 13: Foothills Fine Arts Festival in beautiful historic downtown Golden with more than 100 local and national artists exhibiting their works
  • Sunday, July 14: Foothills Fine Arts Festival continues in downtown Golden with 100 artist booths, all within easy walking distance of the dozen restaurants and outdoor cafes and five craft beer gardens
