I simply cannot get enough of the Vik Muniz show at the Museo and have been at least a half-dozen times since it's opened. Here's some info on a new, ongoing cinema night that the Museo will be hosting, and the first film offered will be a documentary on Muniz. - KLH (from the press release:) Museo de las Américas is pleased to announce the inauguration of its newest program, CineManteca. December 8, 2007 at 7pm, general admission $5, members $3. CineManteca: Butter your popcorn, grease your mind, is the Museo's newest film series that will be offered with each exhibition. To accompany Muniz Remastered, the Museo will present, The Worst Possible Illusion: The Curiosity Cabinet of Vik Muniz. This is a documentary film that follows Muniz from his studio in Brooklyn, New York; Chicago, Arizona and to his native Brazil. This film takes us into the mind of Muniz, capturing his creative process and his unique method of invention. Muniz is an acclaimed international artist having had solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Museu de Art Moderna, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, Brazil; Musee de l'Élisée Lausanne, Switzerland; the Fondation Huis Marseille, Amsterdam, and PS1, New York. This film is offered in conjunction with the exhibition, Muniz Remastered: Photographs from the West Collection.
