During Denver Arts Week, Oct. 5 - 12, the Santa Fe Arts District is organizing a huge event that consists of live art, music and dance performances, interactive events, film showcases, food, prize giveaways and finally the community mural project.

“Art From the People,” a mural beautification project is dedicated to cleaning up the Santa Fe Art Community in Denver.  During Arts Week, members of the community, local artists, school and youth organizations will come together to clean up and paint murals along the alley walls between Inca and Santa Fe Drive throughout 8th and 10th Avenue.  This mural does not face street traffic, however it will be the main attraction for First Friday Art Walks of each month, all year round (visit http://www.artdistrictonsantafe.com/calendar.php for more info on First Friday Art Walks).

There's appoximately 10-15 walls designated for mural painting.  Most of the walls space has already been assigned to the local school/youth organizations and local volunteering artists, while 1-2 walls will be specifically designated for the call for entry winners.

The themes listed are more for direction.  You can start from one or two of the general themes listed and create your own perspective but in the end we really just want submissions that honestly represent the artist's voice.  Because it is a public art space, all imagery/content should be appropriate for all ages.  Communicate what you want to communicate with YOUR mural and have fun with it!
