Call for Entries: The Red Show at CORE New Art Space

Entries due by Thursday October 10, 2019

Juror: Michael Paglia, arts writer for Westword

With red comes an almost infinite amount of meaning, of symbolism and of psychology. Cultures have used the color red to dominate, to empower populations, to strike fear into the eyes of enemies. Red has the power to seduce, to warn, to celebrate, to embarrass, and to ignite.

Core New Art Space invites all artists of any mediums to express what red means to them. Entries must be submitted electronically by October 10, 2019 and accompanied by a $35.00 fee (for up to 3 works).

The Red Show Juror is Michael Paglia

Michael Paglia is an art historian and professional art writer whose columns have appeared weekly since 1995 in Westword, a V Digital Media publication. Paglia’s essays on the visual arts have also been published in national periodicals including Art News, Architecture, Art Ltd., Modernism, Art & Auction and Sculpture Magazine, among others. Paglia has authored or co-authored more than a dozen books and monographs, most of them focusing on modern and contemporary art in the American West. He also serves as a script writer for a series of artist-documentaries that air on PBS and that likewise focus on art in the American West. He periodically teaches art history at the University of Colorado Denver.
