DenverArts.org Newsletter Will Be Monthly Starting in 2018

email.letterhead.logo
Beginning with the January 2018 newsletter, the DenverArts.org Email Newsletter will be sent out monthly on the Thursday Morning prior to the First Friday of the month. The newsletter will still be focused on Denver's vibrant gallery scene featuring a curated listing of upcoming gallery exhibits in the metro Denver area, however there will be less emphasis on non-gallery events in order to better focus on art exhibitions and related artist talks. As always, there will be a variety of local Call for Entry listings and information on local and regional Art Festivals.

Given the rise of Facebook as a means to publicize events, there's less need for a stand-alone arts calendar than there was 11 years ago at the dawn of the DenverArts.org website, thus the DenverArts.org Calendar of Events module is being retired effective immediately. Gallery exhibits will be featured on the website under "Local Exhibits", but specific events related to an exhibit such as lectures or workshops will be featured under "Event Announcements" as time allows.

If you would like your gallery exhibit listed on the DenverArts.org website and newsletter, information can be found at http://denverarts.org/about/submitting_events. Note that exhibits for consideration in the newsletter should be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the First Friday of the month the exhibit will be opening, regardless of whether or not the exhibit is actually opening on the First Friday.

Information on submitting exhibit and event information is at http://denverarts.com/submitting_events

If you would like to submit a local to Denver visual arts related event or gallery exhibition, please send the below requested information at least one week prior to the first of the month that the event will take place to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Information received prior to the first of the month will be considered for the DenverArts.org Monthly Newsletter; anything submitted after the first will be considered for the DenverArt.org website.

Sample Email Subject Lines:

  • "Joe Artist Exhibit at Gallery 123: Opening Friday January 1st"
  • "Artist Lecture at Gallery 456: Monday June 1st at 6:00pm"
  • (note, the subject line "press release" or "please post" with nothing else is not very helpful)

Information to include for Gallery Exhibits:

  • Artist Name/s
  • Exhibit Title (if applicable)
  • Gallery Name and Address
  • Opening and Closing Dates
  • Opening Reception Date and Time

Information to include for Events:

  • Event Title
  • Event Date/Time
  • Description
  • Event Location and Address

Important Information about submitting an event:

  • The most important thing that helps properly coordinate the posting of events is having the date of the event (or the exhibit opening date) in the email subject line (see example above)
  • DO NOT USE ALL CAPS :-)
  • Plain text is always best
  • Please do not send event announcements that do not include plain text that can be copied/pasted (for example, an image of an exhibit postcard is not acceptable unless accompanied by editable text with the relevant stats)
  • Please include some type of image with your submission, if available (at least 600px wide preferred)
  • The image should NOT be embedded within a PDF or MS Word document, rather it should be a separate attachment and include an attribution in plain text (artist name, title, media, etc)
